New Variant of Zeus malware can automatically spread via USB flash drive

Here comes the new version of notorious ZBot which is capable of spreading via USB flash drive.

Zeus/Zbot is the notorious banking trojan, has been around many years since 2007, that steals banking information.  It is usually spread through drive-by downloads and phishing attacks.

TrendMicro Security researchers have discovered a new variant of the Zeus that arrived through a malicious crafted-PDF disguised as a sales invoice document.

Once user open the pdf file , it attempts to exploit the vulnerability in Adobe reader and drops the malware.

The crew behind the Zeus trojan have added two new features to their creation.  The first one is auotupdate routine -can download and run an updated copy.  The second one is self-propagating- can spread to other computers via removable drives like USB flash drives.

It is believed the new self-propagating feature will help the Zeus Trojan to increase the infection rate.
